iPad Repair: Should You Do It Yourself?
So, you were horsing around and your iPad was knocked off the table. You cringed as you watched it fall and bounce three times. Now, the glass on the LCD screen is cracked. You want to find out if you can get it fixed to save the cost of buying a new one.
You find out that the manufacturer can fix it, but the cost is outrageous. You're pretty handy, so you inquire about parts to fix it yourself. Yes, the manufacturer will sell you the parts, but it will cost almost as much as if you had them do the iPad repair.
Not being one to give up easily, you turn to the internet for iPad repair info. Eureka! There are a number of iPad repair shops listed, and some of them will sell parts for considerably less than the manufacturer would charge. Would it be smart to try it yourself?
Well, it can be done. Some shops will even provide the tools and video instruction on how to complete iPad repair for the do-it-yourselfer. If you were replacing the battery on an iPod, and you are handy, it would probably be okay. But replacing the screen on an iPad is a bit trickier. If you are really good at this sort of thing then maybe; But, if you don't do it right, you will have wasted the money you spent on the parts.
Your best bet is probably to let the iPad repair shop do the job. You will likely find that they will charge a very reasonable price, the job will be done right, and they will give you a warranty on the work they do.
